Fall is upon us, and there is no better time to prepare for this wonderful season.
Although not my favorite season, fall is a wonderful time that marks the end of summer and the path to winter with a show of colors and scents typical of this season.
But it can also be a time to take care of ourselves and practice unique activities that can only be done during the fall season.
In this post, I’m going to talk about some fall self-care ideas for a nice fall season, which allows you to enjoy fall and at the same time dedicate yourself to self-care.
Fall self-care ideas for a nice fall season
Below I have listed 22 self-care ideas that you can practice for a nice fall season.
Some of these ideas I put into practice myself while others are based on self-care ideas that are loved by many during this season.
Let’s start.
Pin it for later!
1) Watch the leaves fall from the window with a cup of hot tea
Looking out the window, especially if you live in a tree-lined place, can become a relaxing activity.
Seeing all that color flying around and the streets full of leaves, while sipping a cup of hot tea, relaxes your mind and body and puts you in the right mood.
2) Cuddle up with a comfy blanket and read a book
Fall, as it marks the end of summer and the beginning of winter, is a season with warm days and cold days.
So what could be nicer than snuggling up in warm blankets and reading your favorite book on cold days?
I love this activity, and whenever there is a rainy day, I run under the covers of the bed with a book in one hand and a cup of hot tea in the other.
3) Make a gratitude list
Congratulations to you who managed to get to the autumn of this year even though there have been a thousand problems in the world, such as diseases and wars and various problems.
I believe that practicing gratitude every day can transform you as a person. But not everyone realizes how lucky they are to have the life they have.
So one of my fall self-care ideas for a nice fall season is to make a gratitude list of all the things you are grateful for.
By having a loving family, good health, a roof over your head, and food every day, you have got a lot more than half the population has.
Having a list in front of you will make you realize how blessed you are to have things that others dream of having and that you must always be grateful for who you are and the life you have.
4) Spend time with loved ones
Here in Germany, there are fall holidays, called Herbstferien, and during these holidays children and many young people stay home from school and can dedicate themselves to what they love.
The autumn holidays followed the so-called potato holidays.
At that time, the farmer’s children were exempted from compulsory schooling to help with the potato harvest on their parent’s farm.
They have kept these holidays, and I think it is a good opportunity to stay in touch with the people we love, to be able to meet even when the summer is over and you want to enjoy the season together.
5) Pray / Meditate
Prayers are one of the things that makes me feel really good and I love doing it.
Practically it is not to be done only in the fall season, but prayers are really a form of self-care, as after praying, you can feel that sense of well-being and peace.
For those who are not believers, you can try meditation, which is also very good to practice to feel good about yourself and gives you a sense of calm, reduces stress promoting emotional health.
6) Have an at-home spa night
What could be nicer than to afford at least one at-home spa night? It doesn’t have to be expensive at all.
People always think that it has to be something big and rich, like in the movies, but it is absolutely not like that.
Having a spa night at home doesn’t have to be costly at all and doesn’t come with a lot of things.
A home spa could be a relaxing bath, putting on a simple moisturizing face mask, a footbath with some tea tree oils, and putting in new nail polish.
As you can see, you can take care of yourself even with very little. Just let your fantasy run.
7) Unplug from technology
Sometimes it is good for the mind to break away from technology such as cell phones or television and focus on the moment.
Especially in today’s times, we tend to spend most of our time on social media without giving importance to those around us.
You might decide how much time to spend on your cell phone, after which you can put it down somewhere else and focus on other things.
8) Unwind with a bubble bath
If you love water and soap, then one of the most relaxing activities to consider is the bubble bath.
Doing this once in a while improves blood circulation, relaxes your mind, and cleanses and detoxifies your body. A real cure-all for the body and mind.
Do this at night before going to bed, as it improves sleep and you can get a relaxing sleep. So why not try it this fall?
9) Slow down and enjoy every moment
This is certainly one of the most important things for me. Slow down and enjoy every moment.
Those in a hurry always risk getting hurt.
And whoever does all things in a hurry, cannot enjoy life and, on the contrary, becomes unnecessarily filled with stress.
If you haven’t done it yet, take advantage of this autumn to start doing things calmly and enjoy the result.
Not only live the moment with more serenity, but by slowing down, you will also be successful in everything you do.
10) Watch fall-themed movies
Who doesn’t love watching movies that are themed with the season?
It’s fall season, so why not look at something that has to do with fall?
Looking at these genres of films, it is possible to get into the mood of the season and live it with more emotion.
So make a list of fall movies and watch them during these three months with people you love or even alone accompanied by good food and your favorite drink.
11) Massage your body with essential oils
The body massage with essential oils is another very popular self-care idea to try absolutely even in autumn.
Massage is welcome, and helps fight stress and tone the skin.
You can have your body massaged with these oils and enjoy the moment, but if there is none available, you can also do it yourself. The benefits will not be lacking for sure.
12) Declutter summer wardrobe
When one season ends and another begins, I always redo the wardrobe. It is an activity that I always do at every change of season.
Now that summer is ending, I take off all the summer clothes, and fix the autumn and winter ones, donating clothes that I know for sure I will never wear again.
it may seem like a lot of work, but currently, it’s fun to do and you also discover clothes you didn’t even know you had.
13) Write a fall bucket list
What would you like to do in life? What are your goals?
A season lasts three months, and three months can be as many as they can be few for big goals.
You could make a fall bucket list and write what you would like to accomplish from the beginning to the end of the fall.
For example, for my fall, I would like to improve my knowledge of the German language, increase traffic on my blog and collect a few thousand euros for a private course that I would like to attend.
I highly recommend you set achievable goals.
14) Adorn your home with fall-themed decor
Whenever a new season arrives, many people love to decorate their homes with themed decorations.
Since it is fall, you could make some simple decorations with paper and cardboard or if you don’t already have them, buy some fall decorations and decorate your home.
The atmosphere will surely be nice and relaxing.
15) Road trip to a lovely autumn wonderland
If you are someone who loves being outdoors or loves to travel, then a road trip to a lovely autumn wonderland is one of the fall self-care ideas you can practice for a nice fall season.
Being among the falling leaves, walking along paths full of trees, and breathing the autumn air, are very good for the mind and body. It is one of my to-do’s.
16) Take a fall photoshoot
Taking pictures and making a collection of fall photos can also be a fun activity.
Grab your camera, put on a colorful outfit, and go take some cute pictures.
Photos are the only thing that allows us to remind ourselves of good times that we can involuntarily remove from our heads.
17) Start a Christmas budget
What’s after the autumn season? The winter one, and with it also everyone’s favorite holiday, Christmas.
If you have big plans for the Christmas period, then fall is the best time to start raising money and creating a budget only for Christmas.
So that in December you are ready financially and can make everyone happy with a special gift.
18) Work on a fall-themed puzzle
Who like me loves puzzles?
In the fall season, you can work on a fall-themed puzzle.
If you are patient you could try to get the ones from a thousand pieces or even more.
Trust that you will not get bored and it is also a brain training activity. It is a win-win.
If you don’t want to do it alone, you can invite friends or family to join, so you can have fun and spend time together.
19) Have a Halloween movie marathon
Choose a night when you are free and when maybe the next day you have no commitment and have a Halloween movie marathon.
Here in my house, it has become a tradition by now, and we can’t do less of it, especially cartoons.
20) Get something to add to your fall closet
Fall is a yellow-orange season, so why not buy something that matches the season?
This could be a hat, as well as a scarf or a sweater. You have a variety of choices. Just buy things that are comfortable to wear and that you like.
21) Make some quick and easy Halloween recipes
Last but not least fun fall idea to try is food.
If you love to cook and bake, then this is for you.
You can follow some simple Halloween recipes and prepare a dessert or a special dish.
